Kyle wishes people would realize that unconventional approaches to life can be both rewarding and cool. His past activities include organic farming, college, teaching, and enjoying the company of others. He's currently interested in most things, but to name several-- saving the world, establishing community, rock n' roll, and sipping beer to baseball radio. He's less fond of climate change, SUV's, and javascript.

He was born in the summer of his 20th year, coming home to a place they called the Shanty. Jesse grew up south of Kalona with his parents and one sister. In high school he met Kyle then Fran. Currently Jesse is in college, with unsolidified summer plans.

After excelling as counselor to Kyle at summer camp years ago, Dave has served as mentor and friend. He helped establish the Shanty as the cob house construction site. In addition to being a pole vaulter, farmer, metal worker, husband, and father, he's been very accommodating--lending his resources and skills to the cob project.
